Max Payne 3 Arm Glitch

Sometimes Max Payne will contort himself in unnatural ways when trying to shoot from behind cover. Of course, the guy's on so many pain killers I doubt he'd even notice.

Red Faction Guerilla Glitch

Red Faction Guerilla is a fun little sandbox/3rd person war game to pick up on the cheap. You play a Martian Colonist who fights an oppressive government, mostly by blowing up/knocking down buildings or making small raids from various outposts. The enemy forces have various patrols about, including hovercraft-fighters that you can shoot down.

This one seems to have spawned partially inside a mountainside, mostly invisible (except for the engine plumes) and completely unkillable, primarily due to its lack of existence.

You could hear the not-engine going full-bore.

Red Faction Guerilla Glitch
A cunning defensive strategy, but not exactly useful unless the plan is to win via global warming.

This is particularly weird, because the game does allow for these hover-fighters to crash into mountains if they take a bad flight path.

NASCAR The Game: Inside Line Glitches - 02

Sometimes there will be glitches with your car online. In some cases, the headlight decals on the car got painted on sideways. Other times, the car had no bodywork at all -- a glitch we saw in the previous game.  It was just a rolling rollcage ...which would be kinda awesome.

NASCAR The Game: Inside Line Glitches - 01

I've compiled my collection of glitches from my NASCAR The Game: Inside Line site to crosspost here. This game was the sequel to the 2011 version, and was supposed to fix the glitchiness of the previous game. It did to some extent, but managed to introduce whole new types of fuckupery.

These aren't worth pics, but the game shipped with glitches that reverted a lot of major setup changes to the way the car handles if you tried to change them, like wedge and trackbar. If you tried to pit under a yellow flag in an online race, you'd break the entire lobby. Regardless, cars would randomly disappear in online lobbies, separating cars out by themselves or put into weird sub-races where player A and B could see each other, and player B and C could see each other, but player A and C were invisible to each other.

They've since patched the game, but it's still prone to odd fuckups. First I found was a glitch that let the camera leave the track at the Sonoma Road Course.

You could explore under the track:

And even from far above. Pretty cool.

On another track, there's a big LED screen in game that shows whatever your camera shows, even if the game is paused in photo mode. This can lead to some interesting designs.

Astro Empires Fleet Glitch

AstroEmpires is one of those mostly-text-based space fleet combat games that are great for wasting a few minutes each day if you're bored and have access to a browser. They have added more graphical features as time goes on, including multiple upgrades to their maps.

Of course, sometimes even server-side browser games glitch out. I tried to send some fleet to rendezvous at one of my bases, but the server was having problems. Rather than stopping at the planet they were ordered to, they just continued on, hurtling through space.

The game eventually reset back a few hours to fix the problem, but part of me wishes they would have kept random hazards like this in the game as an intentional feature. Ooops, your giant battle fleet was hurled off into the great unknown!

Tron is a lot less impressive in real life.

NASCAR The Game: 2011 - Danica Flinch Glitch

In NTG:2011, when you had a particularly hard wreck, the character model inside the car would sometimes throw up their arms. I was running around in Danica's GoDaddy car when I had a particularly crazy wreck online which triggered the animation. Only, afterwards when I reset for the restart, the arm was still raised up and bent at an awkward angle, almost like the hand got caught in the window netting. I ran the rest of the race like that.

Bioshock Gun Wrench Glitch

Some DLC led to a weird fusion between the primary melee weapon (wrench) and the pistol.

Real Life NASCAR Scoring Glitches

Real life broadcasts race glitch out, too. Here ESPN gives us a rundown of how many tires each pit crew has changed during their stop. Clint Bowyer's team must be fast as hell.

NASCAR.com's own official "Live Leaderboard" had some issues last year. Either that, or Patrick has become an incredibly popular name amongst NASCAR contenders.

NASCAR The Game: 2011

These are some glitches I ran into playing NASCAR The Game: 2011. The game was notorious for various problems, particularly in online lobbies. The lap counter would get messed up resulting in weird lap times, cars would suddenly veer across the track at random - sometimes driving outside the track up in the grand stands, and an "invisible bubble" would form around the cars, causing endless arguments about whether someone intentionally hit someone else.

Here's one where the cars literally got "stuck" against the outside wall, including my own. The other drivers lost their paint schemes. All their bodywork disappeared, leaving just the simplified roll cage.

Hey... where are the engines?

In this next one, the lap counter glitched out, causing it to record a lap time of 2 tenths of a second, which as you can see is pretty damn fast for a 2 mile track.

Hopefully I'll be able to break the 36,000 MPH barrier if I tweak my tire pressures.

The crash physics in NASCAR The Game: 2011 range from "passable" to "Welcome to the Matrix."
